Normally, I would be the one singing along to my own melody, but having her as my songbird isn't so bad. I smile when I realize the golden-eyed woman is humming along to the sound of my lyre. Choosing to become her travel companion has become nothing short of a delight. as the archon of freedom, it suits me quite well. It was only mere moments ago that we had fought that battle-hungry harbinger, and now she has decided to indulge herself in crafting, out of all things, flower crowns.
Lumine, despite the burden she carries, truly does have her own moments of whimsy. Paimon sits on Lumine's shoulder, and watches her work on the crowns with great interest. I sit myself beside her and take out my lyre, strumming along a simple tune. In silence, her hands begin to work on the flowers, crafting them into intricately woven crowns. Lumine and I laugh at her floating companion's little outburst, and after a few moments, she plops herself down on the plush, green grass beneath her feet. "That was so stupidly cheesy, even for a tone-deaf bard like you!" "Sheesh, you two! Don't forget that Paimon is here too! And you," she shouts, pointing a tiny finger at me. How can she switch from beautiful to downright adorable in such a few seconds?īefore I can voice out another compliment, Paimon sighs exasperatedly. She cannot seem to find any words to reply and simply giggles. Lumine's eyes widen slightly, a rosy tint on her cheeks. "A magnificent flower such as yourself crafting flower crowns. In reply, I place a finger on my chin in mock-thought, humming. Her voice melts me like butter, filling me with the warmth of honey. Perhaps she even looks more sublime and other-worldly than an archon such as myself. The clear blue sky behind her frame and the way the sunlight shines on her golden hair and her pure white dress plants in my mind a strange thought.
In her arms, a bunch of Cecilias and Windwheel Asters on her lips, a soft smile. The three children certainly steals the entire show."Pray tell, dear Lumine - what could you possibly plan to do with all those flowers?"
James Lee, a well known director and writer, plays the somber looking, anti-social and overworked father with credible dedication. Some of the memorable scenes include their friendship with a girl known as Atan who brings them home for lunch one day and how their names are glamorized by her mother, and then there was the fish incident which makes one think of eating fish again and how the two boys prepare their strange concoction which is to be their dinner. If anything, the director/writer must have had some fairly similar experience or his comprehension of a child's mind is admirable.

This is a movie with a clear message of innocence being scrutinized and misconstrued as defiance by adults. The boys and their father hardly spend any time together due to the nature of their father's job. The composition is artistic, the acting natural and the storyline flows with ease. Liew Seng Tat, the director, writer and editor, has done a marvelous job in showcasing two young brothers and their everyday antics in an unsophisticated town. This is one of those sweet indie movies that you would enjoy for its simplicity, the small things in life and down to earth realism.
